09 Dec 2008 - Mini Dose Glucagon

Mini Glucagon injections

Sometimes blood sugar can be low and the person is unable to eat.  When this occurs, your doctor may suggest mini glucagon injections.  Glucagon can be mixed and used with an insulin syringe.  The suggested dose is one unit per year of age to age 15, then fifteen units for those older.  The dose can be repeated in 30 minutes if needed.  Discard any unused glucagon after 24 hours.

**Please speak to your physician about his or her guidelines before using the mini glucagon as your physician may have a reason for or against its use in your particular case.**
