  • As of last night Cheyenne is officially enrolled in Kindergarten for next year. While talking to the school nurse I asked if there were any other Type 1 Diabetic kids at her Elementary. She said out of 520 students so far she is the only 1. I am curious what the stats are where your child goes to school.

  • Right now at Sammy's school there are 4.  One is going to middle school next year so there will only be 3.  Now in the district there seems to be many.  There are 3 elementary schools, one middle and one high school. Trenton also has one catholic school.

    4 kids at Sam's elementary
    2 at another elementary
    1 at the catholic school
3 that I know of at the high school
2 that I know of at the middle school.

    Too many in our district!

  • Campbell's new school (he starts next week), there is one other.  Middle school next year, there is one other that I know of through JDRF.  There may be more that I'm not aware of.  I haven't met with the nurse there yet.

  • One of the biggest schools in the County and/or Denver Metro.  Joe says there are about 4-5 T1s.

  • Nathan is the only one in his school -- about 450 students.  There are at least 5, that I know of, in the High School.  I'm not sure at this point about the elementary schools or the middle school in our district.

  • Finn's school is pre-k-5, about 330 students.  There is at least one other that I know of.  There is another kiddo that will go to that school in a few years but he is Niamh's age (3ish).

  • At the elementary school Matthew attended last year, there were 2 others - one boy his age and a girl a year or two younger.

Interesting tidbit - out of Matthew's kindergarten class of 20 kids, 3 of them have Type 1 D!  They were all diagnosed within a year of each other.

  • when Amanda was first dxd in Middle school of about 4,000 kids, she was the only T1.  Then the following year, there were about 5-6 (if I remember correctly)

In her High School there are 2 other than herself that she knows of.  One friend in her class was just dx'd a few weeks ago and a senior who has had it since she was little.
