Observation

  • As I am still technically a new teacher, I get formally observed twice a year. One is announced and one is unannounced. Usually I have an idea when the unannounced will happen- other teachers being observed. Yes, we gossip too.

My asst principal came to me today during my prep time and asked when my group was. And she was holding a clipboard.   8,)

She showed up a bit later. It was a fourth grade group and they did really well!! I am so proud of them!

But of course I felt a little funny as the group started... Tested. 59. Beeeeeeyoooootiful!!!

So, there I am, being observed while scarfing down nerds. I hovered around 60-65 for the next hour or so.... But all was well. I just hope she doesn't mention anything about that...

  • I know you did great... as far as making note about you treating a low, not positive but I wouldn't think it'd be legal

  • Honestly wouldn't this be a fabulous thing ?- if anyone has any question about how you handle low blood sugars NOW you have some one that saw it happen - saw you handle the class great, and take care of yourself too.

That is so true!  If there was any question in their minds on how D would affect your performance, this would definitely put their minds at ease.  You ROCK! <bclap>

  • Does your class know about the D?  Are nerds like code to them, teacher is "high"

She probably thinks you are amazing because you were having problems and were working through them without missing a beat.

If she doesn't she is nuts because I think you are amazing!

  • The kids know, I test in front of them. Although one kid asked what my pump was yesterday.... I do small group instruction, he sits right next to me lol. Where has he been all year?

They do know I need to eat candy bc I am low at times.
