scary situation at work

  • Sunday I was called to another nurse's room for an emergency. The patient's BS dropped to low 30's.He was fading fast! Soaked from sweating, eyes rolling back in his head . . . I checked his BS after a tube of glucogel and the 1st shot of glucagon- 28! Another shot and more gel. We kept arousing him and keeping him with us. He finally started to gag and try to throw up. I left then as the other 2 nurses had it under control, but it was disturbing.

  • I'm sorry you were there for that, but I'm sure you were a big help.  Scary to see wheat can happen, though. <hug>

  • I can't even imagine how that is.  My husband was showing a couple a home recently and the wife had a low bg and had a seizure right there in front of him.  He was very upset afterwards.

I hope I never see it...

  • I am so sorry April. I'm sure that was very, very scary to be part of, but thank God you were there.
I'm sure you were the sense of calm them all needed.
