  • Thoughts? It sounds really exciting, but I'm skeptical of a cure since so many companies profit so much from diabetes.  :-\

  • I still don't understand how they're going to keep the body from attacking the transplanted cells. Or does it generate enough (continuously?) that they keep getting replaced as they're killed off?

    Love to hear about huge strides like this (kudos to the researchers who work for years, and in the face of Big Pharma :) ), but I think it's too complex to be solved with one big breakthrough. For goodness sake, how can we cure it when we don't even know what causes it?!

  • From my understanding, there will be an encapsulation, but the hope is to find a way to block the autoimmune response. In my opinion, this is the most promising news there's been in awhile. I do believe that the cure for many diseases will be with stem cell research--especially neurological diseases.
