Nyssa got off of the bus with a BG of 375. She forgot to correct her end-of-school-day BG of 341 before getting on the bus. I had her correct...2.75u.

She was in the low 50's before lunch and had juice and goldfish. I had the thought to check her bolus history and discovered that she forgot to bolus for her lunch carbs...74 carbs. 12:1 ratio. She should have had 6u for lunch.

Should I give the missed insulin or just keep pushing a correction every two hours?

This is the first time in MANY, MANY years that she has missed a bolus.

I forgot Jonah's lunch bolus twice this week. :( The first time I just tested and corrected (it was several hours before I realized it), and the next time I caught it sooner and gave the missed bolus in full... which then sent him low.  :loco:

How long ago was lunch? Personally I would just keep testing and correcting, but am interested to hear what the more experienced members would advise.

I corrected and then made her go to the mall with me to "walk it off." She came down to 235. I had her eat a "boring" low carb dinner. Now it's time to keep checking and correcting.

About an hour is my limit for bolusing for a missed bolus. After an hour I just start correcting at the 2 hour point.
Glad she came down.

She only needed the one correction at 4:00pm...then, of course, she was LOW all night long. Juice and basal decreases frequently throughout the overnight hours.
