new belly site

  • I got Kaelyn to try a belly site tonight. I didn't give her a choice really. I think her little bum area needs a break-we can't seem to get any good consistent numbers and I feel like it's an absorption issue. After much crying and hyperventilating we got the site in. Fingers crossed it will work well for us, legs didn't work and arms are reserved for dex.

I feel ya. Kay needs to give her bum a break. We do use her legs some. We have the worst luck with her belly. Major bleeding and bruising every time.

  • Well- the belly site we did was a big fat failure. She skyrocketed up to 500- at first I thought maybe it was an adrenaline reaction given how upset she was. I gave correction via syringe. Then her pump eventually started screaming at me "no delivery", so at 4am we did a site change. We did belly again and it went much better with her laying in bed. Took off the old site- and if there was a millimeter of it under the skin I would be surprised. My guess is she sucked in when I did the insertion.

Right now she says the new belly site is fine and I can do belly the next site change. So I guess we are tied at one win, one loss

  • What kind of sites are you using?  When I put a pod on S's belly I stick it on with her standing then have her sit down.  I pinch up when it deploys to keep it clear of the muscle (helps it go in far enough too)  Sitting down gives me enough to pinch (not enough there when she stands- when she sits it squishes a little)

    good luck!

  • It took me a bit to realize that Tori would clench when she was nervous and the tight muscles were creating site issues.  I had to come up with some creative ways to make sure her muscles weren't tight.

This has been part of our problem with sites for Jonah. What are your creative ways? :)
