  • One is a kid of a skater. Another is a boy in Giovanni's school.
I've reached out to both. One is hospitalized. The other is watching numbers before insulin.
When should I reach out again?
I don't want to scare them, they are kind of in that denial phase where they just don't get the magnitude.

  • Ugh. And right in the midst of holidays. Will be praying for the families and for YOU. I know how hard it is when people you know are dx'd.

Might be worth giving them a "frequently eaten for the holidays" carb list and then let them come to you when they are ready.

  • Just letting them know you are there for them- whether it's tomorrow or a year from now.

It took me a disgustingly long time to come out of that denial phase.

  • I would wait on them now. You reached out, and they probably have you stored as a contact now. My mind space was so out of whack when Sammy was dx that I could not even talk to the parents of other type 1"s that the hospital sent to me until about 2 months afterwards. You're a good person. I am sure you will be a great resource to them when they do reach out.
