Title: Dental issues
Post by: KaelynsMom on December 12, 2015, 11:02:49 AM
So I took Kaelyn to the dentist a few weeks ago and she has 3 cavities. 2 small ones and 1 larger one that her previous dentist apparently missed. They are not showing on the tooth yet. The 2 small ones need to be filled and I am ok with that. The third one because it is larger and closer to the nerve they said they need to do a pulpotomy and a crown. It is a baby tooth, but she will have it for another 2 years at least. I am really struggling with this one. Thinking I might get a 2nd opinion. There are so many health issues related to metal in the mouth etc. I'm lost on what to do. Anyone have any experience with this?

Yes! My oldest three have so many fillings, I've lost count. Jonah and Isaiah each also had a pulpotomy & crown, and Jonah had an extraction and a spacer as well. Their mouths are full of metal.  ;D Honestly it doesn't concern me at all, but I'm not very "natural"/alternative med so take that for what it's worth. ::)

I did learn through the experience that baby teeth don't have much enamel to go through before you get to the pulp. That's why they can get so bad so quickly and need more than just a filling.

Even though I love our regular dentist, he recommended going to a pediatric dentist for these procedures and I was really glad we did.
