Ketones are "moderate" by urine dipstick, "LO" by blood meter. Novamax strips are old, does that matter? BG 177.
Dealing with stomach issues for two days (persistent pain around belly button, nausea, now finally vomiting). Have been treating for constipation via phone with pediatrician (not endo). I'm concerned about appendicitis but ped still thinks it's constipation.
I know there was a recall on those strips-don't remember details though. I might question the results.
If he is constipated and things aren't helping you could try some Magnesium in the form of Natural Calm- you put it in a liquid and drink it.
Thanks! We've tried Natural Calm in the past. Needed heavy-duty stuff this time LOL
Re: the strips. Eventually (when I got "lo" ketones after hours of no food + vomiting) I got suspicious and pulled out the urine strips and he registered large ketones. When we got home (did I mention we were on family holiday vacation for all this???) I pulled out a fresh box of Novamax strips and he registered 0.6 ketones. So my guess is that he WAS spilling ketones and the strips just weren't working properly. :(
I hope he's feeling better now. <fx'd>
Much better, thanks!
